Edge banding is the strip glued onto the cut edges of cabinet boards. It is applied with either PUR glue or EVA glue. PUR bonds more strongly and holds up better to heat and moisture, so it suits kitchens and bathrooms. EVA is the more economical choice. At Build Xpace you choose, and our standard rates are quoted with PUR.
| PUR | EVA | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Polyurethane reactive hot-melt glue | Ethylene-vinyl acetate hot-melt glue |
| Heat and moisture | Better resistance | Good for dry areas |
| Glue line | Thin, neat joint | Slightly more visible joint |
| Cost | Higher | Lower |
| Good for | Kitchens, sink and hob areas, bathrooms | Wardrobes, study and bedroom pieces |
Our standard rates already include PUR edging. If you prefer EVA, tell us and we price it in your quotation.
